Prerequisite
If you encountered ERROR: `phpize’ failed, do this:
[root@server php.d]# yum install php-devel
Uninstall php-pecl-mailparse (if any)
[root@server php.d]# rpm -e php-pecl-mailparse
error: package php-pecl-mailparse is not installed
Install
[root@server php.d]# pear install pecl/mailparse
Configure php.ini
CentOS throws PHP extensions in one folder where they get automatically added to php configuration, and it seems to do it in alphabetical order. So we make sure mailparse is loaded after mbstring by creating a new file mbstring_mailparse.ini and the value extension=mailparse.so

[root@server php.d]# vim mbstring_mailparse.ini
extension=mailparse.so
Save, Restart httpd and confirm
[root@server php.d]# service httpd restart
